The Block Island Historical Society Museum, Gallery & Shop is located at the intersection of Old Town Road and Ocean Avenue. It is listed as part of the National Register in the Old Harbor Historic District and was originally the home and farm of Gideon Rose.  The Museum has extensive collections of significant artifacts related to Block Island’s history and several displays.

Dave Chatowsky, an artist whose work has been seen around town for years — a mural at Aldo’s Restaurant, artwork on Jersey barriers down at Old Harbor and in The Block Island Times — has opened a new art gallery on Dodge Street.

Block Island’s “Premier Gallery” Featuring contemporary paintings, drawings, prints, reproductions, fine art and unique gifts. This gallery is an experience, it should be part of any "island tour".

The Jessie Edwards Studio, first opened its doors 22 years ago in November 1996. This premier Block Island gallery overlooking Historic Old Harbor specializes in contemporary fine art by the best in regional and local talent and represents over 30 artists. Regular openings and ongoing exhibits by established artists include paintings, drawings, ceramic works, photographs, woodcuts and fine art prints. Silkscreen, Lithographs and Giclees by local and regional artists, Fair Trade craft, and unique gift items make this a great place to browse.

Lazy Fish can be found on Doge Street across from the Red Bird.  Inside this fun store you will find an eclectic collection of vintage, repurposed and creative items for the home, lovely jewelry, funky and classic clothing, island art and hidden treasures.  Interior design services also available. Lazy Fish was named Editor’s Choice in “Yankee Magazine” and was featured in the “New York Times”.

Malcolm Greenaway’s photography has been published in major magazines, including The New Yorker.  He has also been featured on "CBS Sunday Morning" and A & E's "Travels with Harry."  in 1993, he opened his own gallery on Block Island, which sells prints to collectors around the world.

The Photo Dog Art Gallery on Block Island, Rhode Island is a small unique gallery located on Water Street under the National Hotel. Featuring the photography of Lesley Ulrich and Jill Warburton, oil paintings of Whitney Knapp, watercolors by Sharon Lehman, as well as one of a kind jewelry, camera accessories, colorful teak frames, locally made driftwood signs, candles, and unique gifts.  We carry photography supplies.

Lesley also photographs the island in the off season, in its purest form.  Her work consists of early morning sunsets, vast landscapes, peaceful seascapes, flowers of Block Island, and abstract photographs of retired lobster pot buoys.  "At the end of a busy day on Block Island, I set out with my camera in search of the best position and perfect angle of light.

Staffed by cooperative artist members, the Gallery offers watercolors, oils, prints, jewelry, and photography by local Block Island artists. Gallery open May through October. Opening receptions for individual artists displaying new work are held on  Saturday evenings throughout the summer season. Go to the website for the complete listing of artists and openings.

For almost 40 years, the Spring Street Gallery has served as a hub for local art and the islands only art cooperative.  There are also consignment artists, host opening receptions and art shows for both guest artists and our members, offer occasional art classes, film showings, lecture and discussion series (year-round) and offer studio space to local artists in the off season once the gallery closes. The gallery is staffed by artist members, which provides a knowledgeable and personalized shopping experience in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
