Cindy began teaching photography in local classes and to travel groups in 2009. She has led travel photography workshops in various locations in New England and around the world. Cindy continues to develop her own signature style of making images, observing and capturing her subjects with authenticity and dignity. She exhibits in local art festivals and with many photography organizations.

Dave Chatowsky, an artist whose work has been seen around town for years — a mural at Aldo’s Restaurant, artwork on Jersey barriers down at Old Harbor and in The Block Island Times — has opened a new art gallery on Dodge Street.

Eme D's Art mainly specializes in miniature watercolor and acrylic paintings that captures the beauty of Block Island. The paintings are lovingly encased in hand-made Block island driftwood frame, each one unique just like the art itself. With a mastery expanding to hand-painted cards, and ornaments, Eme D's Art offers custom commissions all year round. They enjoy memorializing your favorite place on or part of Block Island, so never be afraid to approach them with an idea! Nothing is too big (or too small).

Staffed by cooperative artist members, the Gallery offers watercolors, oils, prints, jewelry, and photography by local Block Island artists. Gallery open May through October. Opening receptions for individual artists displaying new work are held on  Saturday evenings throughout the summer season. Go to the website for the complete listing of artists and openings.

For almost 40 years, the Spring Street Gallery has served as a hub for local art and the islands only art cooperative.  There are also consignment artists, host opening receptions and art shows for both guest artists and our members, offer occasional art classes, film showings, lecture and discussion series (year-round) and offer studio space to local artists in the off season once the gallery closes. The gallery is staffed by artist members, which provides a knowledgeable and personalized shopping experience in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
